Deliciously vegetarian and authentically Japanese, Brown Rice Canteen has been championing traditional Japanese wholefoods since we first opened in 2003.
Our philosophy is to provide simple, authentic Japanese dishes that celebrate
the changing seasons in a comfortable, stylish atmosphere.
The menu embodies the principles of the traditional Japanese diet of fermented food, mainly miso and pickles, along with tofu, brown rice, seaweed and vegetables. Whenever possible we use seasonal organic ingredients and buy fresh organic vegetables from local suppliers each week.
Meals in Brown Rice Canteen are freshly prepared and cooked in our restaurant kitchen without any additives, preservatives, chemicals or mass-produced condiments. Instead all our condiments are from small artisanal suppliers that have worked with us since the start.
We take huge pride in producing healthy, organic food, which not only tastes good but also looks beautiful. We believe eating healthy food should be a delicious, pleasurable experience.
The plates and dishes are made by local potters and artisans,
adding to the enjoyment of eating in Brown Rice Canteen.
